Sraboni was born in Shantiniketan, a place popularly identified as the inspiration to Rabindranath Tagore's intellectual pursuits. Kantha stitch accounts to be the local heritage of the place. Hailing from a family of Kantha stitch artists, since childhood Sraboni has been familiar with the art form. In order to give impetus to her artistic pursuits, Sraboni has acquired professional training in Kantha stitch from Biswa Bharati's Kola Bhavan. At present, Sraboni's proficiency in Kantha stitch has enabled her to ascend to a formidable position in the production department of Amar Kuthir, a local welfare organization for the artisan community of Bolpur. Sraboni has been practicing Kantha stitch for almost half of her life and her proficiency in the art form has enabled her to employ 15-20 local artists, who work under her. Together with her team, Sraboni is capable of catering to bulk orders, where she mainly produces garments, namely saree, kurta in Kantha stitch. Her produce features to be absolute necessities for a wardrobe infused with the artistic flavor of rural Bengal
