Papiya Das has been born and brought up in Tagore's land. Being there since birth, Shantiniketan's cultural and artistic heritage finds a special place in Papiya's heart. She specializes in making a variety of bags and textile products. Acquiring a professional training from Biswa Bharati's Shilpo Sadana, Papiya at present is a member of the Handloom Division of Skill India and has established herself as a distinguished artist of her locality. Papiya has been involved in making trendy accessories for a long time now. She closely works with few other artists from her locality. Together they produce a wide variety of bags and accessories, infused with the aesthetic flavor of rural Bengal. Her bags range from sling canvas bags, intricately woven kantha stitch bags, to handmade khesh bags.
