Yousuf Sheikh Ali

Yousuf Sheikh Ali was born in Sriniketan, Bolpur. He has been living there for 48 years. Yousuf specializes in making different kinds of wall hangings using copper- wire. He thoroughly enjoys learning about Indian artists and their portraits and paintings, which subsequently he inculcates in his work. He has learnt to carve out intricate designs out of copper wire from Syndicate Handicraft, a local handicraft chain operative in Bolpur . Yousuf's proficiency in the art form has earned him executive membership in a local handicraft organization named Shona Jhurir Haat. He is well-known for his flawless and neat handwork. Yousuf has been making home decor items out of copper wire for the past 24 years and currently employs 5 local artists to work with him. His copper wire hangings include pictures of different portraits, Hindu gods ,goddesses and many well-known mythological figures.
