Byasdeb Laha

Byasdeb Laha has been a resident of Babuiya village in the Birbhum district. He is 50 years old and it is inspiring to see him in the zenith of his creativity. He makes bamboo craft by cutting and shaping bamboo to produce a vast variety of innovative items. He specializes in making different kinds of bamboo containers and ornaments. He has been associated with this art form for around 7 years which enhanced his skills further in the matter. He is a self-taught artist who has learned the art by observation. His optimism and diligence further made learning easier for him.He is associated with the organization name 'Khwai' or 'Sonar Jhuri', which are dedicated to promote folk artisans of Bolpur. His unbreakable determination fuels his creativity and helps him to go on about his work. He makes a wide range of products from hairpins, jewellery sets, decorative items, like ash-trays and others.
