Subrata Rudra

Subrata has been a resident of Bolpur since his birth. The artistic and cultural heritage of the place finds a special place in Subrata's heart. Since his very childhood, kantha stitch, which can be identified as Bolpur's indigenous artistic heritage, has interested Subrata, who later learnt the art form from one of his friends. Even without acquiring any formal training in kantha stitch, Subrata's flawless artistic skills have made him a distinguished artist in his locality. Premised on his intricate kantha skills, Subrata has opened up his very own handicraft business for over a decade now. At present he employs around 120 local kantha artists, together with whom he designs a vast variety of ethnic kantha stitched garments like readymade kantha stitch kurta, panjabi, stole, skirt and other fashionable outfits.
